Canadian Institute of Energy (BC) Luncheon

Featured Speaker: Dan Kirschner
Executive Director, Northwest Gas Association, Vancouver

The "Blue Bridge" to a Green Future

The Canadian Institute of Energy (BC) is pleased to have Dan Kirschner,
Executive Director of the Northwest Gas Association here in Vancouver to
talk about the roles that natural gas can play in the near term and in our
long term future.  Long touted by energy planners as the "bridging fuel"
that can allow time and opportunity for development of sustainable energy
resources, natural gas has taken on an additional role in most of the world
as the clean alternative fuel.

This is not a widely-held view in BC, but begs the question: Has
self-sufficiency in natural gas lulled BC into overlooking valuable
applications for natural gas that could maximize domestic energy use
efficiency while optimizing the total value of BC energy exports?  And what
would the regional impact be on greenhouse gas emissions?

Dan will let us know what is happening throughout the region, where all
stakeholders and energy consumers are facing the same question: how do we
build a sustainable energy future with local, reliable, efficient, and
secure resources that offer the flexibility and affordability that we have
all come to enjoy?

The Northwest Gas Association, www.nwga.org, headquartered in West Linn, Oregon, is a trade organization of the Pacific Northwest natural gas industry. It seeks to meaningfully shape policies to help increase the diversity, abundance and dependability of natural gas supply and infrastructure available to serve the Pacific Northwest. Its members include six natural gas utilities serving communities throughout Idaho, Oregon, Washington and British Columbia, and three transmission pipelines that transport natural gas from supply basins into and through the region.

Please join us to hear more about the regional outlook for natural gas
demand and perspective on the uses and roles that natural gas can fulfill as
a "bridging fuel".
